With an upgraded supercharger system breathing new life into its K20, the King Motorsports RSX Challenge-winning Project Car turned heads as well as fast lap times at the Integra Type R Club of America's 9th Expo.
The RSX's engine bay was recently re-engineered to accept a Rotrex Supercharger. Dialed in at about 10psi and with a tune by King's experts, the RSX produced 350+ WHP.
The resulting increase provided some blazing lap times, but with some unexpected side effects. Said crew member Tim Martin, "In the past, we've been able to run a whole weekend on one set of tires and pads and still have some left over." Martin continued, “by the end of Sunday's session, we were metal-on-metal braking, and the Hoosier R6 tires were completely shot!"
Driver Bob Endicott concurred: "Adding all that power made for a much faster car, and I was still able to brake fairly late and corner aggressively. But even with the excellent StopTech Big Brake Kit and brand-new Hoosiers, two days was all they could handle."
In addition to demonstrating the car for onlookers, participants were able to ride along for a lap with Endicott at the wheel. Said one passenger, "I didn't think any car could corner that fast, and I was amazed by all of Bob's footwork."
King Motorsports' Owner Scott Zellner was enthusiastic. "The new supercharger really met our expectations. As far as the event goes, we are always thrilled to give back to the community and participate in these events." |
